Dr. Doris “Lucki” Allen, age 97 passed away on June 11, 2024, in Almeda County, Oakland, CA. She was born May 9, 1927, in El Paso, Texas and her departure from this world marks the end of a life-well lived.

 

A graduate of Tuskegee University in Alabama, Ball State University in Muncie Indiana, and the Wright Institute in Berkely, California where she obtained her doctorate in psychology. She was inducted into the Military Intelligence Corps Hall of Fame on June 26, 20009 at Fort Huachuca, AZ. Known to her friends nationally and across the world as "Lucki", she joined the US Army in 1950 after serving some years as a teacher in America’s segregated schools.

 

During 30 years of military service, she served in three major job fields: entertainment, public affairs (journalism) and intelligence. In Vietnam, she was a senior intelligence sergeant of the Army Command, an interrogator, and eventually, officer in charge of the office where all captured enemy documents were translated. She returned to the states in 1970, after three one year tours in Vietnam.

 

Dr. Allen became the first woman graduate of the US Army Intelligence School as prisoner of War Interrogator and became the first official full-time woman instructor of the US Army Intelligence School Interrogator Prisoner of War Course.

Services for the late Dr. Doris “Lucki” Allen will be held Friday June 28, 2024, at 10:00AM, location: City of Refuge Church 8400 Enterprise Way, Oakland, CA 94621, where she was a loyal member.
